Prequel is a Japanese menswear brand that views clothing as narrative. Each garment draws from imagined histories and past aesthetics to create pieces that feel timeless, grounded, and quietly expressive.

At the heart of the brand is a deep commitment to fabric. Inspired by a 1907 French sample book, Prequel works closely with Japanese artisans to reimagine vintage textiles. Every detail - yarn origin, spinning method, dyeing technique, weave density - is chosen to create depth, texture, and integrity. Many fabrics feature uneven, slubbed surfaces reminiscent of traditional Kasuri, woven with care to age beautifully over time.

Rather than replicating the past, Prequel translates it. The result is modern silhouettes with presence, uncompromising in quality, subtle in design. Prequel doesn’t follow trends. It builds garments meant to last, both in construction and in meaning.
