MotivMfg
MotivMfg was founded in Beijing in 2016 by Samuel Wei and Daniel Gu to create clothing rooted in tradition, but built for the future.
Instead of reproducing vintage garments, the brand develops recreations — historically informed pieces redesigned for modern fit, movement, and long-term wear. Drawing from early tailoring, military uniforms, industrial workwear, and traditional garment systems, MotivMfg transforms archival ideas into something distinctly current.
A defining strength of the brand is its anatomical pattern cutting. Many garments are shaped through three dimensional construction that follows the body naturally. Comfort comes through engineering, structure, and balance rather than oversized fits.
All production happens in-house in Beijing inside a converted 1950s factory loft, where a small team oversees design, prototyping, cutting, sewing, and finishing.
MotivMfg pairs this approach with premium fabrics from Japan, England, Scotland, and China, plus custom trims and hardware developed for each design.
The result is menswear with depth, precision, and character that improves through years of wear.
