The name reflects the brand’s unique “ka-ryu” vulcanization process, where each shoe is fired in a kiln at high heat—just like pottery. This rare method chemically transforms raw rubber, giving the soles exceptional flexibility, durability, and longevity.
Every pair is made with artisanal precision. Hand-sewn canvas uppers are carefully joined to the sole, then sealed with elastic foxing tape. The finishing touch is the brand’s signature blue wax stamp, depicting the legendary uchide no kozuchi “magic hammer,” a symbol of luck and craftsmanship.
