Founded in 2010 by Japanese artist Muu, Munqa is built on the concept of “NEWTIVE”—a fusion of “new” and “native.” The brand explores cultural influences and folk art through a modern lens, creating jewelry that blends tradition with contemporary expression.
Every piece is crafted from sterling silver (925) and follows techniques inspired by vintage Native American jewelry. Instead of mass-produced castings, Munqa jewelry begins with melted silver turned into sheet metal. From there, each design is hand-cut, stamped, and carved by a single artisan. The subtle irregularities—uneven textures, hand-hammered marks, or sujibori lines—reflect the individuality of true craftsmanship.
