TSPTR x Peanuts ‘Work for Peace’ T-Shirt – Vintage Black

Vietnam era, late 1960s. While war dominated the headlines, a remarkably simple phrase began circulating among the very men sent to fight it: “Work for Peace.” TSPTR traces the slogan to an unofficial expression used by U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force pilots serving during the Vietnam War — a quiet contradiction born inside the military itself.

At the same time, those three words belonged naturally to a much wider movement. By 1969, “Work for Peace” had become part of the visual language surrounding America’s growing opposition to the Vietnam War, appearing on posters and protest material as hundreds of thousands took to the streets.

And then there’s Snoopy. Charles M. Schulz had introduced his imaginary World War I Flying Ace in 1965, sending him on endless missions against the Red Baron from the roof of his doghouse. Here, dressed in his familiar flying helmet and goggles, Snoopy becomes the perfect messenger for a phrase whose power lies in its contradiction: a fighter pilot working for peace.

TSPTR brings those worlds together in a deliberately simple graphic. The almost naive optimism of Peanuts meets the politics and military culture of late-1960s America, turning “Work for Peace” into something both playful and unexpectedly poignant.

Printed in vivid green on a washed Vintage Black body, the graphic has the character of a rediscovered period T-Shirt rather than a modern reproduction — a small piece of counterculture history carrying a message that has lost none of its relevance.
