Studio D'Artisan SD-4101E 15oz GL3 Type I Selvedge Jacket – Ecru

The SD-4101E brings Studio D'Artisan's celebrated GL3 selvedge denim to one of the most iconic garments in workwear history. Based on the original Type I denim jacket introduced in the early 1900s, it preserves the defining details of the first generation: a single chest pocket, adjustable cinch back and a clean, utilitarian silhouette that laid the foundation for every denim jacket that followed.

Cut from Studio D'Artisan's exclusive 15oz GL3 selvedge denim, the fabric is woven on rare Toyoda GL3 shuttle looms using heavily irregular No.7 Super Slub yarns. Running at exceptionally low tension and producing only 5 meters per hour, these looms create a deeply textured fabric rich with vertical slub, natural nep and irregularities that cannot be replicated on modern equipment. Left completely undyed, the natural kinari cotton reveals every nuance of the weave while gradually developing its own distinctive patina through years of wear.

Finished with custom embossed metal buttons, engraved copper rivets and Studio D'Artisan's signature leather patch, the SD-4101E is a faithful interpretation of an American classic, elevated through Japanese craftsmanship and one of the finest shuttle loom fabrics produced today.
