Studio D'Artisan SD-1001E 15oz GL3 ‘Kinari’ Selvedge Jeans – Ecru / Regular Straight

The SD-1001E showcases Studio D'Artisan's legendary GL3 denim in its purest form. Woven on rare 1950s Toyoda GL3 shuttle looms, this 15oz fabric is left completely undyed, revealing the natural character of the cotton in a warm kinari ecru shade. Every nep, slub, and irregularity remains visible, highlighting the slow, mechanical weaving process that modern looms simply cannot replicate.

Producing just five meters of fabric per hour, the GL3 looms demand constant care and maintenance, yet reward the effort with a rugged texture inspired by vintage workwear denim from over half a century ago. Developed entirely to Studio D'Artisan's own specifications, from yarn irregularity to weave density, this fabric offers a depth and organic appearance impossible to achieve through modern mass production. Finished with custom hardware, copper rivets, hidden back pocket rivets, and the signature pig leather patch, the SD-1001E offers a fresh perspective on heritage denim. Instead of fading like indigo, the natural cotton gradually develops a unique patina, making every pair a personal record of wear.
