Dyed using „Bengala“, also known as „Bengara“, an ancient earth pigment derived from iron-rich soil, the fabric carries a warm, rust-toned depth that feels organic and grounded. The two names share the same origin: Bengala refers to the historical Bengal region in India, from where the pigment and dyeing knowledge reached Japan centuries ago. Over time, the pronunciation evolved locally into Bengara, now the common term in Japanese craft culture.

The 14oz unsanforized selvedge denim is one-washed for comfort while preserving texture and structure. Unlike plant-based dyes, Bengara offers exceptional color stability, resisting UV fade and maintaining its character over long periods of wear. Subtle red undertones remain present, giving the denim a quiet, earthy presence that matures rather than disappears.
