Studio D'Artisan 45th Anniversary 16oz Kakishibu Extreme Slub Jeans – Persimmon Brown / Regular Straight

To celebrate its 45th anniversary, Studio D'Artisan created one of the most distinctive fabrics in the brand's history. The SP-110 combines centuries-old Japanese dyeing traditions with an uncompromising approach to texture, weight, and character, resulting in a pair of jeans that stands apart even within the world of Japanese selvedge denim.

The 16oz "Extreme Slub" denim is woven from a carefully balanced combination of No. 6 slub and nep warp yarns and No. 5 super-slub weft yarns. The warp yarns are dyed using the traditional Japanese kakishibu technique, which relies on fermented persimmon tannins to create the fabric's remarkable earthy brown tone. During weaving, the yarns are deliberately subjected to intense tension on vintage shuttle looms, creating the dramatic vertical texture and rugged appearance that define this denim.

Studio D'Artisan complements the extraordinary fabric with equally impressive details, including a custom 45th anniversary leather patch, engraved copper hardware, hidden rivets, raised belt loops, herringbone pocket bags, and a selvedge ID inspired by traditional Japanese persimmon leaf sashiko patterns.
