Samurai Jeans S210XJ17oz-26U 17oz ‘Year of the Horse’ Selvedge Jeans – Slim Straight

Each year, Samurai Jeans celebrates one of the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac, blending Japanese symbolism with the brand's uncompromising approach to denim craftsmanship. For the Year of the Horse edition, the Osaka-based label chose a particularly fitting foundation: the S210XJ, a silhouette inspired by the hard-wearing jeans of the American West and the cowboys who helped shape the early history of denim itself.

Cut from Samurai's renowned 17oz Zero+ selvedge denim, the fabric offers an impressive combination of texture, character and durability. Woven slowly on vintage shuttle looms, the denim reveals a rich vertical slub structure, nep throughout the surface and a remarkably deep shade of indigo. As the fabric ages, the pronounced texture gradually emerges, creating the bold, high-contrast fades for which Samurai is known.

The details reinforce the theme throughout the garment. Custom pocket bags are made from a sturdy horse cloth traditionally used beneath riding saddles, while the specially designed goatskin patch features the Japanese wǔ (午) character, representing the Year of the Horse. Vintage-inspired riveted back pockets, copper hardware, raised belt loops and Samurai's signature red and silver lamé selvedge complete this limited-edition release.

Finished in the „Saddle Slim“ fit, the silhouette combines a higher rise with a clean, slightly tapered straight leg. A thoughtful tribute to both Japanese tradition and the rugged spirit of the American frontier.
