Pure Blue Japan 2239 Boro Patchwork Jacquard Shirt – Double Black

From a distance, the Jacquard BORO Patchwork Shirt looks like a clean black shirt. Step closer and Pure Blue Japan’s textile mastery reveals itself. Woven from a custom jacquard fabric, this piece recreates the visual language of traditional Japanese patchwork and boro (襤褸) textiles directly in the loom. Multiple patterns, shifting textures, and geometric panels are built into the cloth itself rather than stitched on, creating remarkable depth with a restrained, monochrome appearance.

Both warp and weft yarns are finished in sulfur-dyed black, giving the shirt its rich double-black tone. With wear and washing, the surface gradually softens from deep black to charcoal and grey. As the dye evolves, the different woven sections become more visible, enhancing the three-dimensional character of the fabric and giving each shirt an individual fade story.
