Naked & Famous 12.5oz ‘Día de los Muertos’ Selvedge Jeans – Weird Guy / Regular Tapered

Inspired by Mexico’s Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a celebration honoring the lives and memories of those who have passed, Naked & Famous brings together Mexican cultural heritage and Japanese denim craftsmanship in a distinctive 12.5oz selvedge denim.

Woven on vintage shuttle looms in Okayama, Japan, the fabric is made entirely from Mexican upland cotton. Its short slub yarns and rope-dyed indigo warp create a rich, slightly irregular surface designed to develop pronounced vertical fading and high-contrast wear patterns over time. The standout detail is a vibrant multicolor selvedge ID, inspired by traditional Mexican sarape blankets, adding an unexpected burst of color to the otherwise deep indigo denim.

The collection’s Bat edition draws on the mythology of Camazotz, the bat deity associated with darkness, death, and the underworld in ancient Maya tradition. Original artwork by Mexico City tattoo artist José Ruiz, aka Koopa, brings this symbolism to life on the vegetable-tanned leather patch and pocket flasher. The bat becomes a powerful visual reference to the themes of death, transformation, and renewal that connect the design to its cultural inspiration.

Cut in the Weird Guy fit, with a mid rise, fitted hips and thighs, and a gradual taper from knee to hem. Finished with contrast stitching, silver hardware, a button fly, and colorful selvedge detailing on the coin pocket, this is a denim release where fabric, craftsmanship, and storytelling come together.
