Iron Heart 5.5oz Waffle Work Shirt – Indigo / IHSH-96

The IHSH-96-IND takes Iron Heart’s traditional work shirt silhouette and combines it with an unusually lightweight and highly textured Japanese fabric. Woven from 5.5oz 100% cotton waffle cloth, the open, three-dimensional structure creates small pockets throughout the weave, giving the shirt a soft, airy feel and excellent breathability.

What really sets this fabric apart is its indigo rope-dyed construction. The deep blue surface highlights the pronounced waffle texture beautifully, while the indigo is designed to fade with wear and washing. Because of the raised structure of the weave, areas exposed to greater friction will gradually lose indigo at a different rate, allowing the shirt to develop increasingly pronounced tonal variation and individual character over time.

Despite its lightweight feel, construction is unmistakably Iron Heart. Single, double, and triple-needle stitching, felled internal seams, side gussets, and a straight back yoke reinforce the classic workwear construction. Navy tonal stitching keeps the exterior clean, while red bobbin thread provides a contrasting detail hidden inside the shirt. Black cat’s-eye buttons and two buttoned patch pockets complete the understated design.

Bio-washed for softness and dimensional stability, the IHSH-96 arrives comfortable from the start with no further shrinkage expected — a distinctive warm-weather work shirt built around one of Iron Heart’s most tactile fabrics.
