The Indigofera Loa Bandana continues the long-running collaboration with Swedish illustrator Björn Atldax, whose unmistakable artwork has transformed Indigofera’s bandanas and blankets into something closer to wearable art. Originally asked by Indigofera to interpret indigo through his own visual universe, Atldax developed a language of folklore, symbolism, nature and the macabre that has since become an integral part of the brand’s most collectible textile pieces.

Four enormous skulls dominate the composition, surrounded by owls, talons, tadpoles, celestial forms and an intricate border of astrological symbols. Mirrored across the fabric, the elements create an almost ritualistic symmetry — strange, beautiful and unmistakably Atldax.

The artwork is screen printed onto lightweight Japanese cotton voile, giving the bandana a finer, softer and airier character than traditional heavier cotton bandanas. A rinse further softens the fabric from the start, while the fine weave allows the extraordinary amount of detail in the illustration to remain crisp and defined.

The Loa can be worn around the neck, tied to a bag or simply appreciated as a small-format textile artwork — a piece of Björn Atldax’s wonderfully strange universe you can carry with you.
