Buzz Rickson’s impeccable reproduction of a U.S. Navy A-2 Deck Jacket. First introduced in the early 1960s these jackets remain state-of-the-art in regards of design and quality. The A-2 Deck Jacket is the direct successor of the iconic N-1 Deck Jacket and have been issued to sailors for the harsh conditions of Navy deck work. Compared to the N-1 model the A-2 was significantly updated to fit modern standards, using lighter and more functional materials, e.g. the shell changed into a Heavy Cotton Back Satin while the lining was updated with a soft yet super warm nylon pile. With regard to specifications, the A-2 Deck Jacket incorporates the basic details of the N-1, such as the button and zipper closure for the fly front and the hidden rib-knit cuffs. However, the A-2 deck jacket made changes to the collar and added a breast pocket and hem adjuster. Long story short: the A-2 Deck Jacket amalgamated the best features from the past with modern standards and became one of U.S. Military’s most comfortable and useful jackets designs.
