Prequel 15.5oz 1920s Archive Henley – Natural

The 1920s Archive Henley continues Prequel’s exploration of early American base layers, this time with a slightly deeper tone and a lightly firmer hand. The design references wool undergarments from the 1920s — garments built for performance long before synthetics existed. Back then, breathability, moisture control, and durability were not marketing terms but essential requirements.

While inspired by wool originals, this version is crafted from a proprietary 15.5oz cotton jersey developed in Japan. Weighing in at 530 grams, the tubular knitted fabric has substance without bulk. The surface shows a fine, even texture, while the interior retains a soft looped structure that traps warmth and allows air circulation, as sweat fabric was produced in the 1950s and 60s. The result is balanced insulation and ease of movement in daily wear.

The natural cotton tone gives the piece a quiet presence. Over time, the fabric relaxes, gains depth, and reflects use in an honest way. Finished with a traditional Henley placket and made in Japan, this is a garment defined by material integrity rather than ornament.
