The Studio D’Artisan 1907 Kasezome Sashiko Selvedge Jeans transform one of Japan’s most traditional textile techniques into a striking modern denim. At first glance the fabric stands out immediately: a vivid, luminous deep indigo blue combined with the unmistakable raised texture of sashiko.

Originally, sashiko referred to hand-stitched reinforcement used to repair and strengthen work garments. Studio D’Artisan translates this centuries-old concept into a fully woven 14oz selvedge sashiko fabric, recreating the distinctive uneven surface through an extremely dense weave pushed to the limits of the loom.

Both warp and weft yarns are dyed using the traditional kasezome skein-dyeing method, allowing indigo to penetrate deeply into the fibers. The result is an intensely saturated indigo tone that evolves differently from standard denim. Instead of high-contrast fades, the fabric develops layered, textured aging that highlights the sashiko structure itself.

Cut in Studio D’Artisan’s regular straight silhouette, the jeans offer a balanced mid-rise with comfortable room through the leg. Details like engraved copper rivets, a button fly, selvedge accents and a leather patch underline the brand’s meticulous construction.
