The name "Donkey Puncher" comes from the logging industry, where "Steam Donkeys" — steam-powered machines that replaced oxen and horses — were used to haul felled trees. The men who operated these machines were known as "Donkey Punchers" and preferred sturdy leather boots with a tall heel and full lace-to-toe design—just like John Lofgren's Donkey Puncher Boots.
These boots are an authentic reimagining of classic 6" logger boots, crafted from the highest quality materials in one of Japan's top boot factories. They are built on the "120 Last" with an E-width and lace-to-toe configuration, making them suitable for a wide range of foot shapes. The rounded toe offers comfort, while the heel cup provides a secure fit.
The construction features durable, high stitch-per-inch sewing, solid brass hardware with 6 eyelets and 3 speed hooks, and a made-in-USA Vibram 705 half sole and 700 heel for excellent durability and comfort. The uppers are made from Horween Chromexcel leather, a "tea-core" leather that develops a unique patina over time.
