Spellbound M-43 Military Smock Anorak - Army Green

This Spellbound hooded Smock takes inspiration from the U.S. Army M-43 Anorak, a pullover smock issued in World War II. Designed for soldiers facing shifting climates, the original offered protection from wind and rain while allowing layers to be worn underneath. Spellbound reinterprets this piece with Japanese precision, preserving its utilitarian spirit while refining it for everyday wear.

Constructed from a cotton-nylon cross fabric (70/30), the jacket combines the dry, firm feel of cotton with the lightness and strength of nylon. A long-wash process enhances surface character, with the differing shrinkage rates of cotton and nylon creating a subtle, uneven texture reminiscent of vintage military garments. Classic features include a four-button collar, large flap chest pockets, and adjustable cuffs. At the hem, a visible drawcord tightens the fit, while a second hidden cord at the waist allows discreet shaping from the inside. The hood is fitted with reinforced buttonholes along the brim, once used for attaching extra protection, and snap buttons at the back for adjusting depth and fit.

Cut in an oversized A-line silhouette, the anorak maintains the generous proportions of the original M-43, offering comfort and room for layering. Finished with leather reinforcements at key points, this modern reimagining carries forward the heritage of military functionality.
