Rooted in British outerwear tradition, the Baracuta G10 combines the timeless elegance of a classic raincoat with the rugged character of waxed cotton. Its origins trace back to 1966, when Baracuta created specially tailored coats for England’s World Cup-winning football team. Known as “The Mexican” or the “Ramsey Raincoat,” the design became part of the brand’s heritage, named after legendary England manager Sir Alf Ramsey.
This winter-ready interpretation is crafted from 100% British Millerain waxed cotton, a traditional British weather-resistant fabric with a rich, slightly rugged surface. Produced by the renowned British textile manufacturer established in 1880, the waxed finish provides natural water repellency while developing a distinctive patina through wear. Inside, a soft teddy fleece lining adds warmth and comfort, making the G10 an excellent companion for colder, unpredictable weather.
The G10 offers a relaxed yet tailored mid-length silhouette, providing generous coverage without the bulk of a traditional full-length coat. Its contrasting corduroy collar features a buttoned throat latch for additional protection, while the concealed front closure, adjustable cuff tabs, and two angled flap pockets maintain its clean, functional appearance. At the back, Baracuta’s signature umbrella yoke and a central vent complete the design.
A distinctive combination of British heritage, weather-resistant craftsmanship, and winter comfort, the G10 is a refined alternative to the traditional waxed field jacket.

FAQ about Baracuta
Where are Baracuta Jackets made?
In 1937, the Baracuta brand was founded by brothers John and Isaac Miller in the heart of Manchester. They wanted to offer stylish protection from the rainy British weather. At the same time, they saw golfers struggling to move in their jackets and coats during the game, especially when it was raining. To change this, they created the iconic G9 jacket in 1937. The "G" stands for golf and the number "9" for the nine holes of a golf course. The very first G9 Harrington jacket was then produced in 1938 and has since become one of the most famous jackets in the world. As a British brand, Baracuta is proud that its G9, G4 and G12 jackets made from Baracuta Cloth are still made in the UK in its London factory and will continue to be made there in the future.
Why are Baracuta Jackets so expensive?
The Harrington jackets from Baracuta are generally made of cotton, wool or the unique Baracuta Cloth - a breathable and water-repellent fabric. They impress with their quality and the long-lasting pleasure of wearing them. The jackets are still produced in Great Britain by trained employees. The production location and the fact that the jackets are carefully produced one after the other ultimately lead to a higher price.
How should Baracuta G9 fit?
The fit of the Baracuta G9 is perfect for almost all body types, offering unique comfort and easily pairs with almost anything. The jacket is slim-fitted, with an excellent body and sleeve length. Despite its tailored design, it still provides ample room in the shoulder and chest area. The Baracuta Cloth is ideal for transitional seasons and even in cold weather up to freezing temperatures. If you want to keep the option open to wear a thicker sweater under the jacket, we recommend trying one size up if necessary.
