Samurai Jeans SSS26-AT Lightweight Tropical Weather Dobby Shirt – Olive

Some fabrics reveal their character immediately. Others take a closer look. Samurai's Tropical Weather Shirt belongs firmly to the latter category.

Inspired by military fabrics originally developed for tropical climates more than half a century ago, this unique cloth was recreated using traditional Japanese weaving techniques at the renowned Banshu mill, a weaving region with more than 100 years of history. While visually understated at first glance, the fabric reveals remarkable depth upon closer inspection.

The slubby yarns and airy, mesh-like structure create exceptional breathability and comfort in warm weather. More importantly, the weave itself is intentionally varied, creating areas of different density throughout the fabric. During the dyeing process, these variations absorb colour differently, producing an intricate interplay of olive tones that shift between light and dark. The result is a surface that almost appears alive, with shadow-like patterns that are difficult to capture in photographs but striking in person.

Built with durability in mind, the shirt features reinforced elbow patches, chainstitched construction, side gussets, and a single chest pocket. A thoughtful combination of military functionality, traditional craftsmanship, and Samurai's unmistakable attention to detail.

As with many Samurai fabrics, the true beauty of this shirt lies not in bold colours or obvious details, but in the complexity of the fabric itself. It is a piece that reveals more character the longer you look at it.
