Prequel 15.5oz 1920s Archive Henley – Black

The 1920s Archive Henley in black distills Prequel’s archival approach into a sharper, more focused expression. Rooted in early American base layers, the design traces back to wool undergarments from the 1920s — garments engineered for durability, breathability, and long-term use long before synthetic blends became standard.

This version is cut from a proprietary 15.5oz Japanese cotton jersey, weighing in at 530 grams. The tubular knitted fabric has structure and presence without feeling rigid. Its outer surface appears compact and even, while the inner looped construction retains warmth and allows air to circulate naturally, as sweat fabric was produced in the 1950s and 60s. The result is insulation without heaviness and comfort without compromise.

In black, the silhouette reads more defined as its natural counterpart. The contrast of the shell buttons and the shifted placket stands out more clearly, emphasizing the garment’s construction. Over time, the dense cotton will soften and develop subtle character, revealing depth rather than fading away.

This is a Henley shaped by proportion, material, and restraint — a modern interpretation of early 20th century utility, rendered in a darker register.
