Samurai Jeans 14.5oz ‘Kakishibu’ Loopwheeled Sweatshirt – Indigo

The Kakishibu Loopwheelded Sweatshirt showcases Samurai Jeans’ deep commitment to traditional Japanese materials and dyeing techniques. Made in Japan from a 14.5oz heavyweight sweat fabric, it is densely knitted using 30-count open-end yarns that are rope-dyed in natural indigo. The air-spun yarn structure traps small pockets of air, giving the fabric a dry, firm hand with substantial body.

After knitting, the sweatshirt is overdyed in Kakishibu, a natural persimmon tannin dye used in Japan since the Heian period. This process adds a warm, earthy undertone while improving color fastness and offering natural antibacterial properties. With wear and exposure to light, the color continues to deepen, developing a rich, uneven patina unique to each piece.

Construction details include four-needle flatseamer stitching, ribbed cuffs and hem made from the same indigo yarn, and a ribbed V-gusset at the collar.
