Japan Blue 16,5oz Inlay Knit Cardigan – Grey

Japan Blue Jeans' cardigan design and the remarkably heavy 18-gauge, 16.5-ounce inlay fabric rival a 'Rocky Balboa' knockout punch. The heavy and textured inlay fabric is painstakingly knitted by a small factory in the Gifu region on old sinker circular knitting machines from the 1980s, of which only a handful exist worldwide.

Inlay, meaning "inserted" or "embedded," refers to the tubular knitting process where yarns twisted by air force are inserted between the base knitting fabric. This technique yields a fabric similar to that of "French Terry" or "Loop Back," distinguished by its absence of binding yarns in the middle and significantly heavier, textured feel. The robust and heavy softness of this fabric makes a distinctive difference compared to anything else!
