At \u003cb\u003eTeotihuacan\u003c\/b\u003e, the gods \u003cb\u003eNanahuatzin and Tecciztecatl\u003c\/b\u003e were chosen to sacrifice themselves in fire to bring light to the new world. Nanahuatzin courageously entered the flames first and became the Sun. Tecciztecatl followed, but when two equally brilliant suns appeared, the gods diminished his light by throwing a rabbit at his face — transforming him into the Moon.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eAtldax translates the story across the blanket in \u003cb\u003etwo contrasting panels\u003c\/b\u003e, surrounded by imagery referencing the earlier worlds and the myth's recurring themes of destruction and rebirth.
